Accessibility statement - Hymns of Blue Hollow

Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to read about Hymns of Blue Hollow and buy the books, whether you use a screen reader, a keyboard, a magnifier, or a phone with the text turned up. This page says what we’ve done, what we haven’t finished, and how to reach us if something on the site doesn’t work for you.

Our goal

We’re working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and 2.2, Level AA. We haven’t had the site formally audited, so we don’t claim full conformance. We check pages ourselves with automated testing and by hand, and we fix problems as we find them.

What we’ve done

  • Every image in our media library has a text description for screen readers.
  • Each page has one main heading, a set language, and a “skip to content” link at the top.
  • The social icons in the header have text labels.
  • The video player on the Theater page has a title that screen readers announce.
  • The header menu links on desktop are sized so they’re easy to tap and click.
  • We test new pages on a phone, a tablet and a desktop screen before they go live.

What we’re still working on

  • Our book trailers play in YouTube’s player. Use the CC button in the player to turn on captions where a trailer has them. If a trailer has none, write to us and we’ll send you the words as plain text.
  • Some third-party tools on the site (the shopping cart, the signup form and Amazon’s pages we link to) are built by other companies, and we can’t change how they work. If one of them gives you trouble, tell us and we’ll find another way to get you what you need.

Tell us if something doesn’t work

If you can’t read a page, use a button, watch a video, or get to a book, please write to us at info@kemmamarshall.com. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what happened. If you use assistive technology, the name of it helps too.

We read every message and aim to answer within five business days. If a page is the problem, we’ll fix it or send you the same information another way, such as in plain text or by email.
